Detours on Limekiln Road, Construction Equipment on Lee and Haviland

Highway 7 Pump Station, Forcemain and Wastewater Treatment Facility Decommissioning Project

The Water Pollution Control Authority’s sewage treatment facility upgrade project involves the construction of approximately 13,600 linear feet of new 8-inch-diameter underground trunk lines between the Route 7 pump station and the South Street Wastewater Treatment Facility. The existing Route 7 pump station will be demolished and replaced with a new pump station at the same location on Route 7. The existing Route 7 sewage treatment facility will be decommissioned and demolished.

Typical construction hours have been extended to include a second shift from 3 p.m. to approximately 11 p.m. The first shift will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The intent of these extended hours is to reduce the duration of disruptions to upcoming work areas and expedite the construction of the project. Police officers will be in detail to direct traffic during both shifts to protect public safety.

UPCOMING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY WEEK ENDING 09/09/22 (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

* Continue to install the mainline along Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road. Limekiln Road between Haviland Road and Nursery Road will be closed during extended construction hours in accordance with the detour plan with traffic management by the Ridgefield Police Department (RPD). Typical construction hours will be between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

* Continue erosion control installation along Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road.

* Continue the plan of survey along Limekiln Road and Haviland Road.

* No work on Labor Day.

PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK ENDING 9/16/22 (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

* Continue to install the mainline along Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road. Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road will be closed during extended construction hours in accordance with the detour plan with traffic management by RPD. Typical construction hours will be between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

* Continue erosion control installation along Limekiln Road between Nursery Road and Haviland Road.

* Continue to install the mainline along Haviland Road between Limekiln Road and Still Road. Haviland Road between Limekiln Road and Still Road will be closed during extended construction hours in accordance with the detour plan with traffic management by the Ridgefield Police Department (RPD). Typical construction hours will be between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

* Commence erosion control installation along Haviland Road between Limekiln Road and Still Road.

* Continue surveying and installation of erosion control along Limekiln and Haviland Roads.

The WPCA will post weekly construction updates on the city’s website for residents and businesses to view at www.ridgefieldct.org/water-pollution-control-authority-wpca.

Coordination between the Ridgefield Public School Department, Ridgefield Police Officers, and the contractor will continue with the school in session to coordinate school transportation and child pick-ups and returns from construction areas.

ANTICIPATED IMPACTS ON RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES DURING CONSTRUCTION

* Minor traffic delays in work areas

* Detours around work areas on Limekiln Road

* Some areas with unfinished road conditions (steel plates and/or unpaved road sections)

* Construction equipment will be mobilized daily in the Limekiln Road, Lee Road and Haviland Road areas
