Kalmar’s electric forklift technology to help building materials supplier SEAC reduce the carbon footprint of its operations

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has won a large order for 15 medium electric forklifts from SEAC, one of the leading suppliers of concrete products to the French construction industry. The forklifts will be deployed in SEAC’s 11 manufacturing plants in France. The order was recorded in Cargotec’s order intake in the third quarter of 2021, with delivery of the machines scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2022.

With a lifting capacity of 17 tons, Kalmar medium electric forklifts will give SEAC all the performance of a powerful diesel truck but without emissions, noise or vibration. They feature a diagnostic system that saves time and is easy to maintain, as well as Kalmar’s ergonomically designed EGO cab to deliver a superior driving experience.

The machines will be used to handle concrete products such as slabs and beams, transport them from the production line to storage and finally load them onto trucks for delivery to customers.

Jean Marc Elain, Plant Director, SEAC: “This investment in electric forklifts to replace our diesel machines is an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint of our operations. After testing a single Kalmar unit, we were confident that their solution could provide the level of battery life demanded by our factory operations. “

Hervé Helluin, Service Operations Manager, Kalmar France: “We have been working with SEAC for several years and we are delighted that they have chosen our powerful and eco-efficient electric forklift solution to support their operations. In the future, once the new machines are in place, we will provide SEAC with world-class preventive maintenance support through our extensive service network, which covers all of their sites across France. “
