Last Mile Building Materials Supplier Curri Raises $ 6 Million in Funding

Technological platform Curri tries to solve this problem with its last mile on-demand solution. The company closed a $ 6 million Series A funding round led by Brick & Mortar Ventures with participation from existing funder Initialized Capital and new investor Rainfall Ventures.

“Our latest Series A funding allows us to continue our rapid growth and meet the overwhelming demand… but there is no doubt that this is a global company,” said Matthew Lafferty, co-founder and CEO of Curri. “We are expanding our services and the markets we reach by providing customers with advanced technology, full transparency and the fastest delivery options in the industry. “

Curri’s platform enables those who ship building materials to quickly locate and deliver critical materials. It’s built on a concept called “elastic ladder,” which is the concept that you only pay for what you need, the company said.

“Often a traditional fleet pulls underutilized trucks or drivers waiting for orders to arrive. With its nationwide and diverse fleet, Curri enables elastic scale and allows distributors to never have to say ‘no’ to a sale, ”the company said in a statement.

He added that last mile delivery of building materials is served by a fragmented market or more expensive internal fleets. As a result, delivery decisions are left to local branches of larger suppliers who lack the scale and expertise to locate the right vehicle at the right price. Curri’s platform is capable of accessing everything from sedans for small item deliveries to flatbed trucks.

Curri’s drivers are concert workers, functioning similarly to Uber drivers, and paid per kilometer. Its customers include Airgas, Grainger, Lowe’s, Graybar and Lumber Liquidators.

“Suppliers who don’t have the capacity to make rush, on-demand or long-distance deliveries leave sales on the table and risk losing customers and business to suppliers who do. Fleet growth is the secret weapon of suppliers concerned with getting equipment into the hands of their customers quickly, ”said Lafferty.

Curri offers daily routes, support teams, proof of delivery, live tracking, and enterprise-level billing and accounts payable integrations, as well as personalized usage reports.

As part of the fundraising, Darren Bechtel, Managing Partner of Brick & Mortar Ventures, will join Curri’s board of directors.
