Volvo CE to add three electric machines and a management application

Volvo Construction Equipment will add three more electrical machines to its electromobility portfolio, with production starting in the second quarter of next year, as well as an app specially designed to help fleets manage Volvo electrical equipment.

The L20 Electric 4.5 Ton Compact Wheel Loader and EC18 and ECR18 Electric Compact Excavators will join the previously launched L25 Electric Compact Wheel Loader and ECR25 Electric Compact Excavator.

The company now offers five fully electric machines.

The L20 will have two battery sizes available, 33 or 40 kWh, depending on the customer’s desired run time.

The EC18 is a conventional rear offset unit, available in heated cab or awning versions. Its 20 kWh battery allows a range of three to five hours depending on the application, explains Volvo.

With a tight turning radius, the ECR18 Electric is a canopy-only unit, with a 16kWh battery providing users with 2.5 to four hours of runtime depending on the application.

Each machine comes with Type 2 plugs, with a range of the company’s quick chargers also available.

Volvo says customers can make reservations for new electric machines online immediately, starting with Europe.

The company’s “EMMA” (Electric Machine Management Application) telematics application, also available next year, will allow managers to view battery power levels for individual machines, receive charge reminders and ” display the location of the machines.

Additional features will be added in the future, according to Volvo, in the areas of mapping and feedback functions to encourage dialogue with customers. A demo is available now on
